US Congressmen support protesters, Iran’s leader first appearance since unrests

United States House of Representative expressed its support for Iranians who continued their protests around the country. While EU diplomats were preparing themselves to the nuclear meeting with Iran in Brussels, dozens of Iranian nationals demonstrated in solidarity with their compatriots. On Wednesday the Supreme Leader Khamenei during its first appearance since the beginning of the unrest admitted that authorities failed to stop protests.

Legendary Soviet dissident Nathan Sharansky: a lack of support for Iranian protesters ” a moral and strategic mistake of historic proportions”

The anti-government demonstrations were taking place in every major city of Iran. At least 22 of protesters were killed and more than 1000 arrested, reports said. While United Nations was scheduled for an emergency meeting, the US State Department in the statement on Thursday condemned death and arrests of Iranian protesters. US government extended also a range of targeted sanctions which included military industrial centers.
