Swedish police seals off suburb after gunmen, explosions

Two explosions rocked Swedish city of Malmö on Sunday evening. Explosions that took place in the suburb of Fosi were heard at 9 p.m.

At 7 pm.m. Swedish police sealed off Heleneholm, the southern suburb of the city Malmö when at least four were injured by gunmen who drove off in Audi, authorities said.

Tomas Nilsson of Region Skåne’s press office confirmed that four people were taken to the emergency room in Malmo and that they are receiving treatment. One injured person was flown by helicopter, Sweden’s Express newspaper reported. 

Shell casings were found by officers at the scene.

Witnesses have reported that shots were fired in bursts of three rounds, suggesting that it is automatic weapon used in the shooting, Sweden’s Express reported.

“We have an ongoing operation in the area and have a confirmed shootings with more than one injured”, police spokesman Ewa-Gun Westford said.

Police units have been sent to the site of explosion but according to information from the site have not yet found anything. It is unclear whether the explosions are related to the shooting, authorities said.

In the seperate incident police detonated suspicious objects nearby a school in the city of Göteborg, Swedish daily newspaper Aftonbladet reports.
